Rifle and/or shotgun training

Trit,
If you have any planned for EESA, Guelph or Barrie area sign me up. Can't make EOHC....
Don't care if it's rifle, shotgun or pistol. Or anything else you have planned!! :D

Hawk,

You're on the list... how does Barrie sound? I'm in the process of determining dates for the Ottawa wourse and then I'd like to do Barrie and London (Stormy's club for his guys... I think they deserve one for the 3 guns they've put on!).

I'll even buy the first round after the course Hawk!

Ottawa guys... I'm trying for the first week of June at EOHC for the rifle course. On the Saturday!

Barrie... nothing finalized yet date wise but I will be teaching a course there. Most likely in mid June. So for you guys that want to go there, please let me know.

EESA.. I wanted to extend the first course directly to Stormy for whatever his guys need. Stormy, let me know what dates you might like.

My only limiyting factor is that I need to get my own training in to prepare for the Nat's, Prov's, etc.

I want to keep the groups down to about 8 just because it's easier to monitor the line and give any individual attention that someone might need/want.

For pistol courses, I am affiliated to SRPRECISION (he has a website too) and we can help with your competition needs or, for military and police, SR and I will tailor a course to your needs.

Why don't we see how many people we can get for each venue.

Don't worry at all about EESA being first. Lets just get this off the ground.

I am very busy right now at work and working on DRAMA DAZE so I will not be able to put much together.

Not to mention EESA Open House!

I am in!!!what would the main topic of training be??

would we be shooting/moving reload drills??and what gear would the shooter need??(I might bring a friend!!)

Like Jamie I want to be in but will need those questions answered as well. You can feel free to PM me with any details I will need.

Thanks for stepping up to this task.

Here's what you can expect to get: (remember, we'll have people with limited exp and people with alot of exp. so it'll all be on crawl, walk, run principles... those who need extra attention will get it but we'll all learn together (yes, I learn stuff too!) and those who already know what to do will get practise!)

Safety lecture:eek:
IPSC rules, divisions, scoring, equipment
gun handling at matches (duh!):)

Gear set up (what you need and what you don't) and maintenance

Basic gun handling for carbine/rifle
Sighting tips
mag changes
Live fire, sighting, dot shooting, familiarization with YOUR firearm (the more time you spend with a gun in your hand, the more you learn about it and you).
Target transitions, multiple shots, mag changes (lots of 'em)
Positional shooting
Shooting and moving into positions
Shooting on the move
Mini IPSC stages - for fun and practice of skills

That's just for the one day deal...it'll be a full day and I want the shooters to get about 250 rounds downrange.

What you'll need:

250 rounds (bring 300)
IPSC rifle (I don't care what it is, I can help you learn how to use it competitively).
5 mags, stripper clips, clips etc.
Mag or ammo carrier - bring what you would normally use...if it's ultra tactical I don't care, if it's a Home Depot nail bag (which actually works by the way) I don't care either... as long as it can carry your mags, stripper clips, enbloc clips, whatever and it doesn't frustrate you then great! (if you need help deciding what to use then PM me and I'll help you out!)

Eye and hearing protection (it might be wise to double plug!)
Water and snacks
Bug juice and sun screen
A hat
A button neck shirt! (hot casings suck!.. and they give a good blister sometimes too!)
Cleaning gear
Spare parts (if you have them)!

I'll have some of my gear there so you can also try mine and I will put you onto who sells in stuff... I will not tell you how to waste your money!

Nice to haves: knee and elbow protection, pen or pencil and notepad, a good attitude and friendly disposition!:p

What I will NOT teach:

Team tactics
Use of cover
Room clearing
Building assault
Vehicle assault
Police and military tactics

(These items I will only teach to police/military and professional security people).

Course fee will be $100.00 per person in the Ottawa area and $125.00 outside (cause I'll have to travel, eat, sleep and make merry somewhere).
Class sizes will be 8 max.. that way, I can monitor you and give individual attention if necessary.:D

First course will be at EOHC in early June (most likely the first weekend). I just need to finalize the details with the range! It looks like there will be two EOHC one-day rifle courses due to the numbers of interested people

After that, we go on the road to Barrie and EESA!

Exact date to follow!

Trit

Okay guys,

We're a go for the first course at EOHC on Sunday, 04 June at 0900. It will be IPSC rifle.

You will need to bring... rifle, eyes and ears, a pen and pad (if you want), 250 rounds of ammo ( just to be safe), knee protection if you want, bug juice, lunch, water, ammo carrier and at least 4 mags.

Let me know who is coming. I'll take the first 8... if you aren't in the first 8, you'll get another chance!

trit

Trit, I'd love to take your course on Sunday too. Only problem, the only rifle I own is a .22!! If Lebaron's has a rifle you'd recommend, I could pick one up (if they also have ammo for it!) on Saturday and see you on the range Sunday. Let me know!

No Kent, you don't need to do that! I may not have given everyone enough time to get ammo for this thing... the weather has been crummy too!!!!!!!!!

Once everyone figures out when is good for them I'll reset another date that doesn't interfere with match schedules etc.

Don't worry Kent I'll be around and you'll get in on this!!
