Rifle Basic Trigger

Like iron cat says, I haven't installed and used any on Savage rifles, because of personal preferences, but I've used them on Remington 700 actions, in their 4oz-20oz models and they work very well, very sharp/clean break. For the price, they do the job well.

I've tried them at the lowest setting, but have never been able to get one I feel safe with below 6oz.

You need the sav2 riflebasix trigger, the sav1 is the same design as the original savage trigger , same with the timney. The sav2 has a mechanism that multiplies the force to move the sear engagement instead of the trigger shoe and sear engagement the same part. I tried the timney and by the time I got it down to 2 pounds there was no trigger return spring pressure left. The sear just hung on by itself. Although I hear it works better than that in some rifles. So I got the sav2, it works well and somehow maintains trigger return pressure with the pull under 2 pounds even though the system uses the same stamped steel sear/ bolt stop that was in the gun, it doesn't supply one with the new trigger. That is the only thing I don't like. I have the same little hitch in the trigger pull that I had in the original, occurring after I increased the sear engagement, it just got used to starting in the same spot I guess, and I can feel that spot when i come across it if I have a wishy washy trigger pull. However the trigger works good and will pull much lighter than where I have it

One interesting thing about the sav2 is that you can change the fulcrum position of the magic multiplier lever inside, there are three holes to put the pivot pin, mine came withe pin in the first hole, which was crazy light, I didn't measure it just change to the middle hole, so you have a huge range of pull weight with this trigger

Jim, I put likely 8 or 9 of the Sav 2's in rifles for myself and friends over the years. I had both of my Savages ( Shaw Custom 6.5x55 ) and a Stevens 200 in 270 set so low...it's almost scary..lol Great luck with them, good company to deal with ta boot !
**My son tried my 270 at the range....he didn't like it at all !!
He said...hollee faaak Dad....I barely touched the friggen trigger and it went off !! Make that trigger heavier for me to use...lol...so I did
