Wipe out !A good carbon remove and a bore brush.Wipe out doesn't take the glazed carbon out of the grooves that well.You end up with carbon and copper under it so you need to alternate between the too .As witnessed by my bore cam

I use Hoppes Elite for the light carbon fouling, JB for the heavy and/or glazed carbon and Wipeout for the copper.

I used household Ammonia on a 100 year old Ross barrel that was terribly fouled and it turned out great.

Butches works well with carbon deposits.

Is there some sort of testing done on when copper fouling really starts to impact accuracy and would there be a "fouling" plateau where inaccuracy reaches a maximum value ... and how many rounds on average would it take to get there for various cartridges ...

There have been tests done. Copper fouling does smooth out some barrels, but I've never seen a chart that states "for x accuracy shoot y bullets first". - dan
