Rifle Build Thread!

Here's my 6GT target rifle built by Gary (G.E.FLACH) Flach, Defiance Deviant Tactical XM single shot, Benchmark 1-7.5 twist 3 groove MTU contour, Jewel trigger and Mcmillan Tooley Stock, DimaRS trigger guard and scope rings, Kahles 10-50 Target scope.

280 AI built by Gary Flach,

Defiance anTi action, Alloy bottom metal, 23 inch 1-9 twist #1 contour fluted Benchmark Barrel, Wildcat UL CF Stock with high comb and palm swell added by Gary, Triggertech Special Trigger,
5lbs 2.4oz on its own, Talleys holding a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 scope, very accurate with my handloads with R26/210M primers/Peterson brass and 160gr AB, its a dream to carry.

100 Yard 3 shot group, not bad for a #1 contour barrel

292 yard 3 shot group

so far its a lucky rifle with a deer taken first on its first hunting trip !

300 PRC target rifle built by Gary Flach,

Dima RS F-Class wood stock, it came as a raw blank and Gary put an amazing finish on it, Defiance Rebel Single Shot Action, Trigger Tech Diamond trigger, 30 inch 1-9 twist MTU contour Benchmark, Dima RS trigger Guard and Scope rings holding a Kahles scope.

I was really hoping this rifle would shoot the 245 Bergers well but so far it really likes 210 Bergers !

My Sako AI McGowen 222 Rem. Great barrel. Great gun.

300 PRC built by Gary Flach, Kimber Montana 8400( 300 win mag donor) Gary lengthened the mag box to 3.85", 26 inch Hells Canyon Armoury 1-9.5 twist Barrel, Flach custom brake, Gary added a palm swell and high comb to the Montana stock, and we added a CF bolt handle as well, this rifle shot everything well that I put through it, factory ammo or handloads, topped it with Talleys and a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 scope, this was the first 300 PRC we built.

^ nice one

Not my style but damned if it ain’t cool

Not really a “build” but if we’re taking a broad definition Gary bedded this Sako Aiii 338 wm into a mcmillan AV stock with edge fill, expertly filled in the tang gap and cut the barrel to 20 inches and added the irons. 7lbs as pictured

I am inordinately proud of it. Great work, great gun.

Heres a 280AI that Gary Flach built for my nephew and this rifle always creates lots of discussion when people see it as he asked for a real light rifle so Gary fluted the Rem 700 action, Timney Calvin Elite Trigger, Wildcat CF Stock, Alloy Bottom metal, 26 Inch 1-9 twist #1 contour Benchmark Barrel, very accurate with factory Nosler Trophy Grade 140gr AB, Talleys holding a Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40 CDS

A builds a build, sometimes it’s just a rebarrel job or a makeover, either way Gary does excellent work, I’m lucky to be able to call him my friend, I’ve even had the pleasure mule deer hunting with him and it was lesson times for me as he’s pretty cagey for finding big deer.

I was very impressed with the attention to detail and craftsmanship he displayed fulling in the tang gap. It’s a small thing but it matches the factory stock perfectly. Says a lot about him as a craftsman

Likely no where near what has been shown above. This one I finished couple weeks ago - have not fired it yet - is for my side-by-side - when I get broke down or stuck enough that I have to walk home in Manitoba bush. For sure, is black bear mommas and cubs, as well as wolves - we see them often in side-by-side when we can go - I am not so sure about them, when I would be on foot. I have many choices - decided that I wanted the 10 rounds from 303 British LE - and it was here and it was "cheap". So, Weaver K3-1 Microtrac scope, A20 and A21 bases, 18 1/4" barrel, forearm shortened accordingly - Bishop butt stock with "Monte Carlo" - is not a "hunting gun", I don't think - is a "for the walk through the bush, to get back home".

This is my younger Nephews 300 RUM, Dennis Sorenson rebarreled the existing Rem 700 RMEF rifle with a 26 in Spiral Fluted #4 contour Benchmark, he was able to repurpose the original factory Muzzle Brake, the it went to Garys for a Wildcat Stock install and paint and gunkote, Triggertech trigger and Tubbs speedloc kit, Topped with Talleys and a Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40, Dylan got a dandy Elk this year with the 300 RUM,

Gary was able to preserve the RMEF logo when he gunkoted it, Dylan was very happy

Even better he got to shoot the Elk with his Dad along, 670 yard shot and it tipped over, they had a tough two day pack out as the Elk was at 7000 feet

Wow, what a pig!!

The rifles not my style but you can’t argue with the results!

Not my choice in cartridge either but Dylan has a 280AI that looks very similar in colours so he wanted to stick with theme.

280AI built by Gary Flach, Remington 700 action, Timney Calvin Elite Trigger, 26 inch 1-9 twist #1 contour Benchmark Barrel, Mcmillan Hunter Edge Fill stock, Tubbs Speedloc Kit, Talleys holding a Leupold VX3i 4.5-14x40

Heres a simple rebarrel job, I was gun shopping an Estate Sale with Gary and came across this original Carl Gustaf 1900 target rifle which was a 22-250 from the factory but was rechambered to
250-3000 Ackley Improved which I didn't care for not having headstamped brass,

I had Gary rebarrel to 6mm Creedmoor using a 26 inch Sendero Contour 1-8 twist JC Custom Barrel, the trigger had been reworked, I also had Mike Hodgson refinish the original stock, its crazy accurate using factory Hornady Precision Match 108gr ELDM or the same bullet in my handloads.
