Hi,
I'm new to 3 gun and looking for a rifle. Right now I'm between the Daniel defense v7 pro And the stag arms 3 gun elite. I'm open to other options as well. I'm a left handed shooter so ambidextrous controls would be an asset. Thanks for your help in advance.

Just get a cheap beater gun like the smith n Wesson mp15 can be found for around 650$ on sale and upgrade the trigger and stock, that way you won’t cry when it gets beat up doing 3gun

I ran a cheap Dominion Arms my first season, but I just took the plunge into the Stag Arms 3Gun Elite Left Hand, I gotta say it’s a great rifle and as a lefty I am pretty stoked. I just got it, took it out last week for the he first time and it is exactly what I wanted. If you are a lefty and want something unique I say get the Stag, not cheap, but neither is the DD, both are unbelievably nice!

That upside down ejection port cover threw me off there for a minute...why wouldn’t they put the bolt release on the right side for a lefty gun?

And there’s no mag release on the left side either? Was that your choice or is that how they come?

Never could get used to lefty guns...always just add ambi controls and GTG.

Really almost anything can do, a 3 gun rifle typically has 3 key parts

- decent trigger
- accurate barrel
- decent comp

Anything else is just a nice to have IMO

Could even build your own to get what you want. But plan on spending more if you do this

It’s actually just a left handed upper on an Omni lower with regular controls, that is what is throwing you off :)

D'oh, now I need to get used to standing over your other shoulder!

OP: DD and Stag are both great quality. You'll not go wrong with either.

Sig m400 is not worth the price.
Nice thing about a cheap gun is it gives you the extra capital to do the upgrades you want and not worry about roughing up the finish, but if you can afford a nice DD or pro level out of the box gun and not shed tears throwing it in a bucket during a competition I’d say go for it.

That being said, a more expensive rifle won’t always improve your shooting, especially if it has a trigger / furniture that doesn’t feel good or if you are carrying it around like a newborn during a competition, as fast handling is slightly more important than sub moa precision when it comes to getting a good time in 3gun.

Like a few others have said, buy a cheap rifle and change out the trigger then take all the money you saved and buy ammo. Remember, you'll be tossing this thing in dump bins...its gonna get beat up.

You don't have to go "cheap"... You just have to get over the idea that your rifle needs to maintain a perfect cosmetic appearance.
Don't fear the guy with a pretty, blemish free tier one rifle. Fear the guy with the beat to rat-s*** tier one rifle.
On top of tossing it into dump barrels and such you'll probably end up banging it against barricades and possibly even dropping it.
It's also going to get wet and muddy.

Thanks for all the replys. I have no problem spending more if I know I can get a few seasons out of it. In the dd price range would you consider anything else ?

Either will do the trick more than adequately. Lots of threads on this topic if you want to search past thread results.

I really like my DDM4V11 Pro with the 18” barrel for 3 Gun and IPSC rifle, but my lighter FNH FN15 Tactical Carbine with the 16” barrel is also a good option that I occasionally run in a match.

Suggest whatever you choose get at least a 16” barrel, especially if you want to go down south for 3 Gun matches.

I'm all about custom ARs, finding the parts and combination of parts that make for a rifle that does great at everything a stage would ever need.

I have a schwack-load of AR15 parts for sale, mostly 3gun focused stuff. I have a couple uppers for sale in the EE, and could put together a full rifle that is fully tweaked for 3gun.
