Rifle identification needed please

Good day all,
I hope summer is treating you well.
I am looking to find a make and model of a rifle I used to own.
The question sounds odd, so a bit of explanation is in order:
I owned and sold(selling it was a mistake i'm trying to correct) in the mid 1990's.
About 12 years ago I had a battle with a life threatening illness. Between the illness and the meds used to save me, most of the memories of life before the illness were made very fuzzy or totally erased.
The illness was flesh eating disease,to answer your questions.

Okay here's what I remember about the rifle:
Bolt action single shot.
220 swift caliber
I think it was a Savage or Marlin,though I could be wrong about this.
Heavier profile barrel
Very accurate
It was an older rifle,what year i could not guess. I would say it was pre 1980 at least.

I don't think Marlin ever made bolt action centrefire fires that were worth the term accurate. Rimfires and levers yes, but not .220 Swift bolt action. A Savage is more likely.
 
A friend and fellow varmint hunter back about the time mentioned used a single shot Savage in 220 Swift.
As I recall it was a superb tackdriver and he quite liked it...
 
Though not a single shot, that would be the correct time frame for the Ruger 77 in .220 Swift, and it was available with a heavy barrel. The Savage 12BVSS-S was a single shot HB varmint rifle that was available in .220 Swift. The Marlin MR-7 came onto the scene in 1998, but while it was advertised in .22-250, it apparently was never manufactured, and I could find no listing for a Swift version.
 
Thanks for all the input guys. I'm afraiad the m7 is out- I owned the rifle in the mid 1990's, but it was not new.it was a couple decades old at that point, i would guess.
Kevan thanks for thr post, I really think it was a Savage, it definately was a single shot.i remember freinds being bewildered as to why anyone would buy a single shot, until they saw me lay down a couple coyotes past the 300 yard mark. Now I need to figure out what. Model it would have been. Perserverance os my strong suit. I will not give up until I figure this out.

In the 60's and early 70's Savage had a cheaper bolt action rifle they sold. I would have to find the catalog to get the exact model number. They had a lot of different models back in those years.Google is my friend as there was the modle 340 for one and there is one other that was a single shot have to do more searching.
