Rifle mag coupling in IPSC

I was told that you are not allowed in 3 gun to couple mags together. I have gone through the IPSC rifle rules and cannot find anything about it. Thoughts?

3 Gun and IPSC Rifle are two different creatures.
It is allowed in 3 Gun.
If it doesn't disallow it in the rules in IPSC you can do it.

Coupling magazines is definitely banned in IPSC shotgun (open class).

But I can't find any similar rule in the IPSC rifle book.

You should be okay.

As Dexter Morgan has indicated, specifically not allowed in SG, but not mentioned in rifle so magazine coupling is GTG for rifle in IPSC.

And as tomo333 said IPSC and 3 gun are different beasts, so you'd have to look at the specific rule set of the match you are looking at as to whether they have any restrictions on coupled mags. Most matches it will be fine, but I have seen some rule sets that disallow it entirely, or disallow it if the mag bases are even so that you can't use a coupled mag as a bipod equivalent.

This is the strongest design that I've seen around.

Many others I've seen look pretty flimsy by comparison.

This is my setup. Haven't shot in a comp with it yet but it seems solid.
