Rifle Primers in .45ACP

yes, as long as your gun will set them off, often the only difference is the thickness of the cup, so weak firing pin strikes might not set them off

load a dozen in to empty cases with them and see if your gun will set them off reliably.

Large rifle primers generally wont work in pistol cases, the primers are a bit long and wont seat fully.Small rifle primers arent a problem at all and Ive used them for years without any issues in pistol rounds.

They are to long compared to large pistol primers. As well the cups are thicker so it will be harder to ignite if your pistol even locks up.

Sell or trade them. Or better yet you have a good excuse to buy more guns!

From C.E.Harris, formerly N.R.A. and Ruger employee:

LARGE rifle primers have a higher cup height than pistol primers.# They do not seat flush in a pistol primer pocket.# This results in "high" primers which create a false headspace condition which causes cylinder drag and may contribute to slam-fires if large rifle primers are used in semi-auto pistols.##
