Burdick range has never been opened to the general public, its a military training facility.
The section of land Bethune range is on has been bought by an American from California and has been closed as he is setting up a game farm.
As for setting up a range, good luck trying to persuade the municaplities and the government to get a permit. They both do not want anything to do with shooting sports.

Burdick Range was at one time open to the general public, I grew up there just a mile from the range and we used it all the time up until the early 70's. After I joined the military (and left that god for saken place) we still shot there in the 80's. All you had to do was check and make sure the Reserves(yes Reserves, Canada hasn't had a Malitia since the early 80's when we decided that the term "Malitia" ment demented Arab's with scarfes on their faces)were not using it.
During the 80's and up to at least the mid-late 90's, there use to be a range down south in the Briercrest/Claybanks area's.

I guess Im more so talking in my generation the Burdick range was not open to freely go down and shoot with a membership.
Apperhantly the handgun club of Moose Jaw is close to striking a deal with the military to use the range which would be greatFound this out at the local gunshow in town a few days ago.

Scott can you PM me any info you have regarding the source for this. I work for Range Control in Dunrdurn, which controls Burdick for the military, and have heard nothing of this. I will ask in Jan and see if I can find anything out for you guys.
