I like this style of carry as well, usually I have a day pack on so the sling is hooked over the pad of the backpack strap, for lighter rifles I use a thinner sling for heavier I like the Butler Creek Alaskans.
 
I have found that a fairly narrow cloth sling fits my style of still hunting /stalking really well.
I only use a hasty sling style on one rifle I own, my other rifles are two piece stocks and too much pressure on the forend does not work well.
The majority of the time my rifle is in my hands, or simply slung for ease of carrying.

Never had any issues using the uncle mikes as a shooting aid in prone, sitting and kneeling etc. Don’t use it offhand not sure how that would contribute to stability and may even detract?

I would like to try a sling designed for that though. Thinking the nylon Rhodesian sling…
 
Hesistant about installing the third stud tbh, aesthetics mostly

Thinking the rear swivel might end up inside my hand on some of the lighter, harder kicking hunting rifles too
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I picked up a Vickers BFG here in town to try out. After carrying a rifle with a shoulder strap for 50 years this will take a bit getting used to. I am leaving tomorrow for a few weeks of hunting so it will get tested.

I’m a fan of the Ching sling as well as Rhodesian sling( which I made out of an old AKM cotton sling by simply reversing it;)

They’re hard to beat, they make a padded version but I’ve never felt the need to move away from the non padded version. The Ferro Slingster is the other one I’d choose if I couldn’t get a Vickers.
 
I got away from leather and nylon web slings completely for my hunting rifles. I switched entirely to repro M1 Garand cotton slings. Amazing how difficult these were to get in Canada. Anyway, o was looking for a sling that didn’t slide off so easily and could still be readily used as a hasty sling when needed. Gunblue490 on you tube has a good video about them.
 
Years ago I bought one from a named sling maker, cant recall which, that was made from a green somewhat stretchy rubber or synthetic rubber.
No nylon or padding; just a inch strap in the traditional loop format.
I use it all the time. I switch it between rifles.
I have used it on many many, hunts, from super heat to the tops of cold mountains.
It clings to your shoulder very, very well and it "gives" just enough while you walk that it doesn't dig in your shoulder.
It is my favorite.
I cannot find them anymore or even a close substitute.

Rubber is non slip and acts like a shock absorber so no bouncing. Straps can separate for "backpack" carry.

burnsy gets it.
The slogan sling is the best designed I've ever used in the field. Butler Creek mountain slings run a distant second.

The majority of the new fangled slings made of neoprene and gel with shellholders and firestarting LEDs are horrid and go right along with that deer head sticker on the back window of a pickup.

The BFG isn’t as slippery all around, the quick adjust slider stays put once adjusting and doesn’t loosen off as easily or at all when you want it to stay put. The webbing of the Vickers has more tooth, stays on your shoulder better as well. The Magpul is more like a seatbelt material, have both. I don’t mind the magpul, overall it’s decent but the Vickers is better, the Magpul is wider as well so depending on the size of your sling swivels it might be a tight fit going through the loops.
 
I don’t know if they are still available but the Safari Sling works great. I have several of them and would not go back to any other carry sling. Great for hunting in the bush with snow or frost on the trees. Gives great control of your muzzle.
