Rifle sling

Butler Creek or Grovtec Mountain Sling is what I run on my rifles

I love the Quake Claw slings. They hold the shoulder very well with no slipping. There are a few different designs but the slim version and colours other than black or green can be tough to find in Canada.

What are you fellas using? Is there anything out there in a 2 point that is not as prone to slipping or sliding off your shoulder?

Started using a "zing" sling type years ago and haven't looked back. Hands free if needed and rifle always at the ready if needed too. The most useful and comfortable sling I have ever used. Knock off brands available just about anywhere.

When I use a sling, it is one of the Butler Creek neoprene type. Soft, stretchy and doesn't slip off the shoulder. When not in use, it is in my daypack.
I also carry in the front of shoulder position on the off shoulder as recommended by Capstick, when shouldered. Fast and easy to get into shooting position.
Mostly, the rifle is in my hands where it can be put into service as needed.

My sling requirements are simple. I have three of these. One is 3/4 inch width tan cowhide, and two are one inch width buffalo hide. Handmade by the Amish. They will likely outlive me. I also have an Allen "hypa-lite" synthetic sling for foul weather.

I know what ones NOT to buy are those butler creek/uncle mikes nylon slings with the raw peace of neoprene sewn in the middle after 2km the bouncing rifle rhythm gets pretty old by the end of the day that neoprene is pretty stretched and thin. I have a cabelas northern flight sling that I’m thinking of putting back on my 30cal it worked well. Milspec sling are great too as long as it’s hardware is tight.

I see you’ve rendered your decision, but I sling my rifle in my hands when I’m hunting. It’s not much use to me if it’s not in my hands. I carry a sling in my pack so I can carry my rifle on my shoulder while I drag out my dead critter behind me. I use mostly butler creek Alaskan models for that. I hunt I very thick cover, things happen fast. This is why I like light weight rifles.

My preference as well over the years. Slings are good for climbing the ladder to the tree stand as well. ;)

I like to sling my rifle in front of me, muzzle down, but need to transition quickly to a shooting position. Right now, I use a butler creek POS from CTC. It doesn’t quickly adjust, so it has to be pretty loose to transition. Would one of these Vickers slings work better to adjust on the fly?
