For that type or style I go with the Macmillan A5. If you prefer a more modern or tactical look I recommend the AICS 1.5 or 2.0 (folder). You could also consider the very well regarded MDT. Really, the staring point ought to be 'what kind of look am I hoping to achieve' ?

I have the mdt stock on my Remington 700. If you like the AR15 platform u will like how this feels and shoots. In my hunting set up it weighs 9.9 pounds. It's short and maneuverable and the nice part is u can customize it to however you want. If its looks your basing on the this ones hard to beat but also it's function is top notch. I'd also second the McMillan a5

If you are looking for a hunting stock, then my favourite is the Macmillan Classic. Tactical stuff- A3, or A5. Alot comes down to how much handle you want- I don't want my huntinf rifle to weigh as much as my precision rig...

I have a limited supply of Choate here but will eventually get things rolling again.

Also have B&C light varmint (Hook) and M40 full adjustable stocks.

MDT chassis is another great option but a bit heavy.

See my dealer forum.

I am away next week so send me a PM or email soon if you want something out by Friday.

Thanks

Jerry

If you want an all-around stock that will be good for bench work as well as hunting, then I'd suggest a HS Precision LTR stock, MacMillan A1 (M40 style), McMillan A1-A3, or the Bell & Carlson M40 version you already mentioned.

Don't waste your time or money that will be too heavy and cumbersome for your intended uses. The MacMillan A3, A4 & A5, MDT, AICS, and any Choate (especially so) are anything BUT good choices.

I've got a camo Choate Ultimate Sniper for a Rem 700 S/A that I'll probably be ready to let go of within the next few weeks. It's a medium-heavy stock, very solid, and the grip is fairly large, so if you have larger hands it'll fit you well.
