Alright so i'm looking for a rifled barrel shotgun, preferably something i can mount a scope or red dot to the top. I understand that all aren't made equal. Primary use will be deer hunting in my area. Any recommendations?
The only real advantage of the 20 is reduced recoil. The 12 makes a bigger hole, delivers more energy, and shoots the same trajectory as the 20. I've had satisfactory results on 4 bucks with my 220 though.
x1 on Savage, I run the 20g. It is picky on ammo though, not just picky on the brand by picky on the lot number too.
I settled on the clear green tip Remington Accutip.
I have a browning bps with a deer barrel steel sights and a browning gold fusion with a cantilever and eotech. I have seen lots of slug guns over the years and I would say stay away from the cheap pumps... get a good semi like a benelli or browning. .. even the 11/87 are decent. The new v3 with a deer barrel should be good. Bolt action ... spend the extra and get a browning abolt. Don't cheap out. There is a big difference in quality.
I've got a Winchester 1300 Deer Combo that's served me well (and a few deer not so well). I've always shot 3" magnum slugs cuz, you know, bigger's better (?) But I've been thinking of trying some Sabots... recommendations are welcome.
Honestly think the gun you buy should really depends on the type of hunt. I am a tree stand hunter and a savage 220 works for me but if i was part of a gang that pushed deer I would look at a sx3 or browning semi in 12 ga.
