How do standard rifled slugs fire out of your slug gun? I've got a barrel on the way and a bunch of Winchester and Federal 1 ounce slugs. I want to try sabots as well so what brands and types are getting the best results? Thanks in advance. :)

Some of my friends actually find them more accurate out of their rifled barrels than the sabots.

I pretty much just use Winchester gold and Titanium. I hear they have a new one out this year

Hornady saboted 12g shoots well out of my remington. Its a 300grain SST bullet. Someone on an earlier thread on this subject stated that slugs will foul a rifled barrel with lead, so I've avoided even playing with them.

Bigred IIRC had some interesting things to say about plastic from the sabot fouling the barrel. Accuracy suffered after 6 to 8 shots..

Rifled slugs are about 25% the cost of sabots. Paying 23$ a box of Remington Copper Solids versus 7$ a box for Winchester rifled slugs.

Does the rate of twist differ between the rifled slugs and the barrell, or does that even matter. Seems to me one might try to speed up the rotation while the other is slowing it down.

we shot remington slugger 2 3\4 rifled slugs through mine and my dads mossberg 500/535. They group very well, we are using sabots for hunting though. Just took 5 shots with the rifled slugs to get it lined up close then switched to sabots. The rifled slugs almost grouped as well as the sabots, they just shoot about 4" lower at 75 yards(how far we were shooting)
