I own a Beretta 390 slug barrel in 12 gauge. It is a smooth bore barrel, with cylinder choke. Is it possible to get it rifled to shoot sabot slugs.

If so, does anyone know of a gunsmith who would perform that service and the approximate cost of same?

Thanks in advance.

Rifling a smooth bore shotgun barrel would make it over the correct size. If it could be done, and it can't, the existing smooth bore would need lands, not grooves.

No 'gunsmith' rifles existing smooth bore shotgun barrels that I am aware of.

Check out the possibility of putting a rifled choke tube on the end of your existing barrel. They are claimed to be almost as accurate as a full length rifled bore.

Unfortunately, that particular barrel, being a dedicated slug barrel, is not threaded for choke tubes.

Thanks for the input. I will look for a rifled barrel.

"...not threaded for choke tubes..." That can be done.
"...look for a rifled barrel..." Beretta makes a 24" cantilevered Rifled barrel for a 390. Cheap, they ain't though. Think in terms of over $500.

Get it threaded for choke tubes .......it's better than the $500 alternative..........JMO....Harold
