Rifling around

Is it possible to get a rifled barrel for a Maverick 88 12 gauge, either new or used? What prices would I be looking at? P.S. this may be a stupid question, but my profile says I'm a newbie so bear with me. Is there such a thing as a smoothbore slug round? Don't hate me if I'm wrong!

Maverick 88 barrels are interchangeable with Mossberg 500 barrels. A fully rifled barrel for the Mossberg 500 costs around $160 from either Wholesale sports or SIR mailorder. You could also try an add in the EE to look for a used one. You can Foster or Brenneke type slugs in your smoothbore barrel. Use sabot slugs in the rifled barrel if you buy it.
