Rifling Twist 44 mag. model 94

Would anyone out there know the actual twist on my Win. model 94 44 mag. serial # 4,4###xx? I have an old Spear manual that says it is 1 in 38" but it looks quicker than that. Thanks for any help.

Winchester's Catalogues from early 2000's list the 44 Mags. as having
a 1 in 26" twist.

Get your cleaning rod with a brush on it and stick it in till you get one full rotation, measure the distance for one full rotation and that will tell you what your twist is. Les

The various reloading manuals generally list the twist rates of their test barrels - the ones they use in their Universal receivers. May often be different than the twist rate of a particular firearm ...

Thanks for the comeback boys. It looks like 1/26 but I,ll try the cleaning rod trick it didn't work the first time.
