Rigby Double Rifles - 1932

In 1932 the average Britian made 2.51 pounds per week. Now households average 728 pounds per week. So multiply by 290.

I refuse to believe that there is tens-of-thousands of dollars different, between my Merkel boxlock and a Rigby boxlock. All of us are aware that there is a grand price in the name, especually with high-end English firearms.

I did not comment on their value, I said they are a better rifle than the Merkel... you stated that they are of "the same quality," and that is ridiculous. Whether they are worth that much more that a Merkel is for individual buyers to decide.

I have handled examples of both, I owned a couple of Merkels, never a Rigby... but talk to anyone who has even held and shouldered both as to which is the better rifle and there will be 100% agreement that a Rigby double is far and away a better rifle than the Merkel, in any "apples to apples" comparison... except maybe for one or two petty outliers who own Merkels and begrudge the expense of a Rigby double...

Hmmm, holding and shouldering a Rigby sets it at a higher standard, hmmm. A 100% of how many people?

Weren't those Baikals notorious for being light for caliber? even for 45-70. I heard the recoil is a handful.
