That would depend to some degree on whose ammo you are buying.
All modern N. American rimfire ammo is designed to have minimal effect WRT barrel wear. I've seen some older E. European rimfire which seemed to be corrosive and the old Russian back-country practice of grinding up wet strike-anywhere match heads and using the paste to reprime .22 LR for reloading would have been disastrous.

It has ground glass and causes barrel wear.
22 barrels seem to have an accuracy life in the order of 50,000 rounds. With the current price of match ammo, reduced life is less of an issue than it used to be. The old Ely ammo did not use the ground glass and barrels lasted longer.

So if this compound is mixed with powder the glass can be separated and left in the grooves of the barrel?
