I have started to see what ammo my rifles really like. The two rifles in questions are:

Ruger 10/22 Dlask Bull Barrel.

Sako Quad: Standard Profile Barrels in 22LR, 22WMR, 17 HMR, 17mach2.

At first take, in 22LR, I used the 'economy pack' of Federal Hollow Points and whilst the Ruger loves these (at least in reliability terms) I was surprised at the accuracy levels. The Ruger was 2inch (5x5 string shots) at 100m. The Sako was a little better at 1.75 inch. (I thought a bolt action would be a little better?) Both were on a light wind day, shot off a bipod, scope at 9 magnifiacation.

The next was a quick 5x5 string of 17Mach 2, off a sledge. This gave groups of 3/4 inch averages. Some were really small, 4 out of five touching, within 10mm!

What should I realistically expect from a 22lr in terms of accuracy at 100m from these rifles?

Sounds like you are doing pretty good to me.

I could never get clover leafs at 100 with any .22

At 75m I could do it, but not 100.

Maybe they just dont make commonly available ammo that good. Maybe I am not that could. Maybe both!

I am getting close to 1" at 100 yards with my Savage and somewhere 1.5" with everything else. like Remington 597 and Mossberg 152K. Of course ammo is a major factor for every particular rifle there is usually only one that does best groups. Anything smaller than 1" (with consistency) is an outstanding accuracy as far as 22lr goes. Of course I am getting occasional groups size of a quarter but not consistently.

Thanks for the info, I shall post the results once I have done the full ammo test. (22 different types!)

The 17 Mach2 really surprised me on the level of accuracy / consistancy, it really is far superior in the Sako. I think my next test will be to map the drop of this calibre.
