I have started to see what ammo my rifles really like. The two rifles in questions are:
Ruger 10/22 Dlask Bull Barrel.
Sako Quad: Standard Profile Barrels in 22LR, 22WMR, 17 HMR, 17mach2.
At first take, in 22LR, I used the 'economy pack' of Federal Hollow Points and whilst the Ruger loves these (at least in reliability terms) I was surprised at the accuracy levels. The Ruger was 2inch (5x5 string shots) at 100m. The Sako was a little better at 1.75 inch. (I thought a bolt action would be a little better?) Both were on a light wind day, shot off a bipod, scope at 9 magnifiacation.
The next was a quick 5x5 string of 17Mach 2, off a sledge. This gave groups of 3/4 inch averages. Some were really small, 4 out of five touching, within 10mm!
What should I realistically expect from a 22lr in terms of accuracy at 100m from these rifles?
