Rimfire Ammo change?

Hi I have been shooting Center X through my 40x for a while and it has been pretty good but was thinking about trying some Eley Match to see If I gained anything. My question is should I just start shooting the new ammo? Run a couple of dry patches through , or use some sort of cleaner first?

I would agree with the above. Swab with one or two solvent dampened patches and then dry patch. A few shots with the new ammo will season the bore - then start doing your test in earnest.
 
I used Eley Match and shot my best score of 2300 in .22 BR.
Since Eley Team, Edge, and Match and Tenex all use the same lube, some at our club season their mores with cheaper ammo.
What are you paying for Centre X? Can you pick it up directly?
What is your trigger breaking at?
 
Horseman2: It is your old 40X and am not sure what the trigger breaks at. Im paying 96.00 + tax a brick for Center X and usually have a guy pick it up for me twice a year from Hirsch Precision. Im trying to find out now if there is anywhere within New Brunswick to get Eley or how much it would cost to ship it. Our targets are the IBS targets which the 10 ring is .5" and the x dot is .075. We shot two of these on a day and I have shot the best of 250 with 14/x on one target out of a possible 250 25/x I have not been able to get a 500 point weekend yet. I will try and post a picture of one of my better targets. here very soon.

The only thing I improved form the last picture is I put the same bag in as the first rest picture and attached a 3" wide track plate to the bottom of the rifle.
 
Nothing wrong with that. I know it is my old gun as I keep pretty close tabs on your entries.
I think the last case I bought from Peter Krause was $150 + or - shipped to BC for Eley Match.

Horseman2: Did you ever try Eley Team in my rifle. I contacted Peter and he says he doesnt have any stock of Match but has lots of team.
 
I do not recall the velocities used. I never tried TEAM but have tried it in my Anschutz and current 40X.
Currently I am using 1067 but have tried 1062, 1063, and 1065.
When ordering a lot to test, make certain there is a least a case in stock.
Have you considered a tuner? They probably work but can lead to frustrations when working up to testing without the tuner.
When I settled on lot number, 1067 velocity, I would work up to what appeared best but could not duplicate those results at a shoot.
The Hopewell method is attached.



Of course, while testing there were some distractions, six to be exact but here are two . . .

 
I would prefer to stay away from a tuner. These shoots I shoot at are club matches and arent worth any cash. There more of a fun day out.
