Rimfire barrel length legality *help*

OK. I was thinking of the Czech Skorpion which is pistol sized, has a folding stock and is not classed as a pistol. But it is not altered from a longarm.
Stop and think about this for a moment- OK to alter the 10/22 if it has been registered as a pistol, but if it is a short rifle, it is prohibited.
I suppose that if a new 10/22 type receiver were used, then the thing would not be a pistol.
Don't suppose it really matters.

Pistol it must be, according to our all-knowing overlords.

In the name of our collective safety ;)

I can play the game. Just one more range-toy to keep in the safe.

or, just throwing this out there, you can save your self some paperwork and just buy one of the new Ruger Chargers and than you own a 10/22 pistol.
at that point you can send it to Dlask and have a barrel made.
save you having to do all the FRT stuff and paper work, no?

thats what i did.
think the charger cost me $400 like a month ago.
in fact when you do get to the point when your gonna flesh out a 4.5" barrel let me know, ill go in with ya and get one for my charger as well.
maybe we can get a cheaper rate since we are ordering 2.

and you can of course swap out the stock ruger charger stock for whatever you want at any point.

You know what, your making a lot of sense sir. 400$ to simplify the paperwork, and then I don't have to butcher one of my rifle builds... I need to find a charger

Update**

I found a charger at my LGS, it's one of the older ones with all wood stock (no AR pistol grip)

So I'm one step closer, once I get possession of it it'll be off to have a barrel done, which will most likely be over a year wait if Dlask decides to take it on... I will keep updated and definitely show it off once it is complete :)

PM me when you talk to them about the barrel, id like one as well at either 4.5 or 6" whichever one they will do.
also, if you replace the stock on yours let me know as well, i would like to get one of those older stocks, these new ones are..... yucky?

Update.

I heard back from Dlask. They have made it abundantly clear that they will NOT have anything to do with this project whatsoever.

I did find a smaller manufacturer in Delta BC -Bits of pieces. I have had a 10/22 barrel made from them before, it had problems with the chamber cut for the extractor. I had to send it back but they did make it right for me. I believe they use green mountain blanks but the quality of the finished product was admittedly not quite a good as my Dlask barrels have been.

Anyways, they have said they can make me a 4.5" barrel no problem. The barrel will be stamped "charger pistol" and they will need the actual pistol to install it and verify it/update the registration before sending it back. The only thing is that they are busy until January 2017, so I've been advised to just call them back in January.

In the meantime they asked me to get something in writing from the CFO to confirm that everything is legal beagle.

-Wayupnorth, you may need to contact them directly if you wish to have a barrel produced for yourself since you will have to send in your charger to get the work done.
