I'm new to the sport and just trying to pin down all the legal regulations.

I've got a pretty good handle on the different parameters which dictate classification, but the question is; do rimfire rifles not fall under the 18.5" min. barrel length for non-restricted semi-auto?

There appear to be some semi-auto 22lr around, with 16" barrels, listed as non-restricted. Correct me if I'm wrong.....and if this is so, does that mean all rimfire weapons are non-restricted, as long as the barrel is over 4.1" and OAL is 26"?

Thanks in advance.

A.

Also you can't cut your own barrel under 18.5" on a semi, if you want a shorter barrel you will have to buy one that was manufactured that way.

Of course, if it classified as a pistol, it's restricted and is subjected to the 10rd limitation on the magazines.

If its a semi, it only needs the 26 inch OAL and not be a pistol. If its manual action IE bolt or lever, it just cant be a pistol. For example, look at the Henry Mares Leg in .22 S/L/LR.
