Refurb - That caveat was added for recent 10/22s, when I got my first 10/22 in the 1990s ALL 10/22s were not supposed to use Stingers. Reading the newer manual it implies that the match chamber is the issue when the problems I have seen with the 10/22 (at least in the past) were tied to the 10/22 firing out of battery with Stinger ammunition and launching a nice bit of the rim and case out the ejection port at very high velocity. Having seen this occur 3x with the standard blued model, I strongly advise that you don't shoot stingers out of a 10/22. That little spring on the recoil rod is not enough to close the bolt consistently on a longer round. Considering that you can get velocitors or other safe hyper velocity rounds I wouldn't shoot them again...
