Rimfire blank guns rarely fire - help?

I have a single shot blank starter pistol made by HS (Herbert Schmidt) in 6mm Flobert.

It rarely fires. The hammer creates a dent in the cap but doesn't appear strong enough to ignite it.

So I bought a 2nd one thinking I could figure out the problem but it does the same thing 🤪

If I hold down the trigger and pull the hammer back well beyond the cocked position and then let go they will go bang.

Any thoughts on a work-around? Should I try shaving the hammer to make it more pointed?

Thanks in advance!

(P.S. The blanks work without fail in my Rohm revolver.)

Possibly can add a small weight to hammer?
Also lubricate/free up the hammer assembly to increase hitting force?
Lastly, is hammer hitting the correct area of the rim to ignite the primer? If shallow hits, can you carefully sharpen the firing pin - careful not to take touch off as can damage rim/hammer.
