Hey All

New to rimfire arena,
What gunsmiths are recommends for bluing and work related to 22lr precision in Canada ?

Im looking recommendations around gunsmiths and the rifle actions they are accustom to working on.

Seems like alot of options in the US but not so much here

Thank you

Mmmm Thanx.

Is getting a US based company to build ship to FFL and then getting it imported an option? Feels like it will be 18 month experience

If you have a rifle built in the USA, it shouldn't be a problem for Prophet River to import it to Canada. I have had them import a few firearms for me with no issues , but you should ask them in advance.

Can't comment on regulations between the USA & Canada but I've had a number of rifles built in the US & shipped to Australia.
Builders/Suppliers I've dealt with have no issues shipping to a US based exporter who in turn will ship to a licensed importer.
Here's two who have shipped full builds and/or restricted spare parts for me.
Bear in mind this process is time consuming and costly - I've waited from a couple of months to a full year for packages to arrive at my local dealer.

I have ya, but looking for .22lr specialists and or recommendations of people that have completed. 22lr worl specifically

Thanx for the links.

Seems like everyone is willing to sell barrel blanks and parts to Canada but need local shop to fit everything. And new bill c21 not going to make things waster. As it becomes less and less profitable for importers and exporters they all going to stop offering these services

I want to import a Carbon 6 blank barrel and get it fitted to .22lr R700 action.
The chamber, threads on both ends everything would need to be done and its alot of money for half assed attempt.

Hey Jerry

Good to know I can get it locally, I see you have other brands aswell. My issue however is the machining of said blank. can you help with this aswell ?

Hold out on the work until you have someone who understands the workings of fitting a rimfire barrel blank. You may think it is the same a Centerfire but there are tricks to making it work. Thankfully I know a guy who has done extensive research and talked to US Smith's. His rifles shoot. Unfortunately I cannot share his info. He has a small client base and wants to keep it that way.

When you said locally ref Jerry I'll assume you are in the BC Interior then?

Try giving Gene a call at GBG Custom Firearms in Vernon and see if he can machine the blank. I know he def builds rifles for LR, both 22 and centre fire.

This all seems like a lot of fussing around. If you want a .22 in a R700 platform with a carbon barrel the easy button is just to call Tom at Go Big Tactical and ask him to order you up a Vudoo Sinister with a carbon barrel. They have several choices; Helix 6 Carbon, Bartlein Carbon or Proof Research. They will probably do a Carbon 6, also, if that's what you want.

if the OP told us the action he wants to use

the distance he wants to shoot at 50. 100. up to 425 yards prs?

is he going to travel or for only 1 approved range

then we can help answer his question

Dennis has build some hammers for prs and benchrest for rim-x and could do a vudoo as well

Henry is a great repair guy and rebarrel guy andhas shot rimfire silhouette and br in the past and is no nonsense
DONT call Henry just to chat only to book an appointment

this advice is worth more than the price of admission
