Rimfire heavy or regular barrel?

I own 22lr's in 12", 16", 22", 24", and 28" and contours from sporter to heavy bull. My go to for walking around is the 16" sporter. Light, nimble, and deadly accurate. I've shot some very nice groups with it, but not as tight as my Lilja. For your purposes (pest control and informal target shooting) I wouldn't sweat the decision. Pick them up, shoulder them, and buy what feels good. Either way you go, you'll have a blast.

Thanks,
Cal.

Is that 16" sporter barrel in a 10/22 Compact by any chance??

hold out for the new Tikka, a full length, full sized rifle. the main issue I have with most rimfire rifles is they are built for midgets and kids. It's hard to find something with the useful length of a BRNO model 4 with the light quick pointing characteristics of a CZ 452 Classic, even the Anshutz 1712 feels a little to childish in my arms

Personally, I like the heavy barrels. Have the Remington 597 HB and I’ll shot it every time over my 10/22 regular barrel. I’ve against 10/22 HB’s and found the accuracy to be better as well so maybe that’s not relevant. I find the little bit of extra weight helps me hold a little more steady when shooting off hand or off of a bipod.

In all honesty, my hunting rifle tips the scales over 12lbs, varmint contour 26” barrel. I love shooting that thing. My next rifle will be a lighter weight, 8-9lb rifle complete. Wood, stainless, etc. a rifle that looks good and shoots too. I just don’t expect it to shoot like my current rifle.

Just how "full-sized" is the new Tikka? The Anschutz 1712 is 104 cm long (40.9 inches) and weighs 3.3 kg (7.27 lbs). The weight of the Tikka is 5.3 - 5.7 lbs (depending on barrel length, one would think). The CZ 455 American, rarely called a child size rifle, is 38.2 inches long and weighs 5.85 lbs. The 452 American is 40.2 inches and 5.9 lbs.

I got long arms and a high neck, nothing fits.....
the new tikka is interchangeable with the regular T3 stocks, it's going to fit like my hunting rifles with a simple swap over to a bell and carlson stock. the dimensions of the wrists and butt stocks are smaller then standard stocks
