Been thinking of making/buying a rimfire shooting log to keep track of my shooting, rounds through barrel, chrono data etc.

Most log I have seen are geared towards the hand loader so they can track gr, seating depth etc.

anyone have a rimfire specific one and if you do care to post a copy of the page so I can see what info you track.

How many categories would you be thinking of?

Chapter for each rifle.

Date, Ammunition, chrono, weather (wind, temp humidity), wind flags, location, distance, competition or practice.

Would a Microsoft Excel spread sheet work? Use heavier paper.

One more thing to carry. Entries in my CF LOG were made at the bench and marrying the two back up were generally lost.

The CF F-Class shooters have logs that they record on the firing line.

Keep it simple but organized.

It may not be necessary to use anything special. I use a simple notebook each year to record the information that I think I may use for future reference.

I take note of the basics while at the range. Date, time, and conditions -- including temperature, general wind observations, sunny or overcast, and if it's particularly humid. I also note anything that's out of the ordinary, such as outside influences on results, critters that I see at the range, and if my results were disappointing.

I record which rifle I've taken with me to the range as well as what particular ammo I shoot, including lot number. I record how many boxes of each I shoot. I don't always include the number of foulers I shoot.

I use a second notebook to record target results at home. For a couple of years now I've been keeping photos of almost all my targets. These are organized by rifle, date, and often by particular ammo. The notebooks have records of ammo if my photos don't.

Some shooters wish to keep records of how many shots they have put through their rifle(s). I don't keep such records because it doesn't have a great deal of importance in .22LR rifles. Nevertheless, I could estimate to within a few boxes how many rounds I've put through my rifles by referring to my records.

When I use a chronograph I record my data on my hard drive and back up drives. It's catalogued by rifle, date, and ammo information. The chronograph data includes the date, time, and sometimes temperature as well as the expected MV, ES, and SD data.

I don't chronograph every range trip. With new ammo that I haven't yet chronied, I try to get enough data so that it's statistically reliable. That means chronographing an entire box at a time.

Chronograph results can often disabuse shooters of misconceptions about ammo.

I've only been keeping 'records' for the last couple years. They're getting more detailed similar to Grauhanen's, tho I just got a chrono going.
I keep notes at the range including how the hits are sequenced and where they hit, ie " 6-o'clock, 1" from bull" . This lets me know if/when I'm improving my hold and/or how the ammo is doing. If groups are hitting at the same point, what was it doing last time out? Maybe the prob is the ammo, maybe the Humidity, . . . ?
If I have significant data in my notes from a trip, I save it to my phone in a pdf or pic (pdf,s if I transcribed the Notes to Word). And I photo all targets and keep them on my phone and in Yearly folders for the last 3-4 years - its fun to see that in 2017 I was glad to get 1" groups, now I cringe when they're that big.

PS - I also keep a 'pretty close' inventory of all my ammo, so if there's a Sale I know if I need to jump on it or Pass. This is kept by Caliber, then Mfr, then Name, ie "Fed Champion 40G RNL " . Then On-Hand for each one, then total by Caliber. And Avg cost / round ; and anything 'Special' like 'Sale price' . I also have a 'Summary Table' for Total Overall Rounds / Current-Value / Total by Caliber.
Yes, I used to be in accounting/inventory control. ;-P

I use the Anschutz Shooters Log Book for my 1903 I use in SFC Sporting Rifle. Beyond round counts I track results and observations in training and at competition along with lot numbers and conditions. I log any changes to the rifle and I track fitness and dry fire and other training in it as well. That and saving corresponding targets has been very effective.

I keep shooter's notes and intend to organize them into a log book as I wander through makes of ammo at long ranges. Several members including me have been discussing weatherproof notebooks in the wilderness survival forum here. I did not however know there was a special Anschutz Shooters Log Book?

^^^ I should have mentioned that my note keeping up to now has been in ballpoint right on the targets, date, temperature, ammo type and so on, but they do become 'unwieldy.' The targets I mean.

I generally just scan to pdf my handwritten notes taken at the range, "3-Ws" - Wind, Weather, Whatever - like sequence of shots & location of hits. For longer range hits I sketch the target on the Notes with location and sequence of hits so I don't have to run 200yds to measure hits. If I have anything that 'needs' detailed notes like ammo tests I may make a spreadsheet for that info. I also take photos of all 'significant' targets, for 'progress documentation' as I get more familiar with a rifle. I'll add any info on the target before taking pic, like ammo ... distance ... date ... rifle ... Whatever makes sense to me ;-O
I keep a spreadsheet of the "Ammo Inventory" I mentioned on post #6, its easier to 'update' stuff like "Total SP Ammo" by caliber ... etc.

I don’t shoot much RimFire but if I am using a “new” cartridge, I simply keep some of the “representative” targets for future reference in case I decide to use that “brand” at some future time.

I keep all my notes and Range pics on my phone anyway. One LESS cra*-app to clutter my phone. I don't do Tw*tter either . . . or You-Fool.

Nordic Marksman has them. They’re geared towards ISSF Match Rifle and 3p shooting. It’s worked quite well for me in Sporting Rifle.
