Rimfire Mag- What is the Max cap.

is there a case of paranoia spreading around this site? Sometimes i think you guys like spreading the stereotype the liberals paint us with in the media already.

I honestly don't believe we need to give them more ammo... It's just sorta funny when a new guy comes onto a forum and all he does it ask for pictures and the loaded questions.....

All the information is already available... they just need to do a little leg work...

2x ---agree ---- I am wondering if KimJong Il hasn't been giving some of you ideas...
lighten up guys.. questions are questions..

I'll be this guy is a noob. STOP EATING OUR OWN !

agreed i think it usually just comes down to laziness. Instead of looking up the regs and people think its easier to just ask someone? The questions do seem to get repetitive.

Yes, but...sometimes things are less intuitive for a newbie. Case in point: a "flat" of shotgun shells, the "E & E" forum, how to transport a non-restricted, etc.

Not like he couldn't find the info right from the CFC.
Not asking anything illegal so what's the harm?
Out of sight out of mind doesn't apply to this group,we are always in sight no matter what you may think.

He sure could call the CFC. But would the CFC tell rim about Ruger rimfire magazines? No, they would give him a black and white answer. He wouldn't learn what was popular, cool, tacticool,;) cheap, expensive, good, bad.......

Hey Mr GoodGuy, the only way you are going to fit in around here is to use the word "best" in every question.;) "Best" is a time-honored CGN excuse for not doing your homework. :p For instance: "What is the best magazine for holding as much of the best rimfire ammo as possible and what would be the best gun to shoot it out of?" would have attracted no attention at all.:D

Have you guys checked out mr.goodguys other posts?
they are all asking the same kind of things
smallest hangun,shotgun,largest mag capacity
strikes me as a little strange
am I the only one ?

Hey, I just want to learn. I am new and I will admit that, but for a firearms community you guys are quite judgmental. I want to know what the max is, so I never go over it.

We need to be friendly to the new guys.

For some, the idea of "legwork" is asking someone who not only knows the answer but is willing to share the knowledge. This does not always apply in Mirimichi, but it should apply here. Or does subscription to the CGN automatically endow the subscriber with a encyclopedic knowledge of all firearms and firearms laws? You learn a lot from asking questions, and there are times when you can learn more by answering them!

Have you taken your firearms course? gotten you license... because if you did you weren't paying attention as they do go over that in the course... it's in the book too...

I understand you are new... But so far you have asked for all sorts of pics and have touched on a bunch of taboo's you really need to scale back just a little.. If you wanna learn; read more , use the search function before you ask and maybe use some alternative sources..

I'm still wondering why you want pics if you don't have a license... Get a license and start buying handgunner or G&A and look around the range, the net and gun stores your gonna have to do a bunch of probie shoots before you can get an ATT so just take it easy... Your coming on way too strong and we old people just get a little jumpy when this happens... Had way too many keeners wave a gun around because they don't know what they are doing but they think they do....

I never suggested you call the CFC I suggested he look at their sight and read the regs.

Hold on, kind friends; I've met 16 year-olds on the E & E - guys planning to get their licenses as soon as they can (not all can get the junior w/adult setup), (and) eager beavers who will do paintball/airsoft just to get into the sport - they are the "next wave" of CGN.

We ought to help 'em start learning...after all, you gotta figure many of us knew 90% the subject-matter of the PAL handbook before reading it:

and we were able to know-so b/c of places like CGN.

My $0.02...

Had my license long before CGN existed and long before it was called a PAL or POL.... FYI it was brown and didn't have a picture...

My two cents is people can ask if the questions aren't already answered 50 times or in black and white in the law. Mr good guy has been doing more then just asking questions... which is what got the spidey senses tingling... It's one thing to ask about one gun but he's got 4 or 5... I want pictures of small guns, I want pictures of this that and the other...

Here are the rules on magazines took me 25 seconds to find googled Canadian firearms and then the clicked the FAQ on the CFC website..

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/faq/default_e.asp#a6

Q. What is the maximum number of cartridges that a firearm magazine can legally hold? As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:
  • 5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or
  • 10 cartridges for most handgun magazines
A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the regulations.
There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics.

If you want the laws...

If you buy a magazine in the store you don't have to worry about "going over" the legal capacity, as mags are not sold in Canada that are capable of holding more than the legal amount.
If looking at used handguns however, remember 10 rounds is legal capacity and you may encounter older mags with a higher than legal round count. You must permanently modify the mags or "plug" them so they only hold 10, or just don't buy them in the first place.
