Hello, I recently purchased a CZ 457 MTR.

I was wondering what the best scope would be to mount on his for target shooting up to 150 yards and grouse/varmint hunting?

Check out Riton, I like mine, it is very clear, tracks perfectly, has a zero stop feature in the elevation, zero set on the windage, and is 6-24 power. It is so clear that often I can see the bullet track to the target. Possibly better quality and clarity than a vortex costing twice as much. My rig is a 455 action with a CZUB 20 1/2 varmint. I also have a great Riton on my 6.5 x 55 varmint rifle, a 4-18 power. That might be a little better suited to your hunting and target usage. Look at them before following the popular fan boys and paying more for less.

What you purchase will be dependent on the budget you have set. One suggestion is that if you’re going to hunt with this optic, make sure whatever you pick has a lower power on the bottom end. I would suggest 3X or 4X for the lower end. Lots of choices out there now and don’t overlook the EE. Better quality for less $$ than new. 2.5-10x40,3-12x40/50 would make a good compromise for hunting and easily take care of 150yard target shooting.

LS is right about a low-end, tho you should look for something that goes higher, too. A 3-18x or 4-20 would be better for targets - 'aim small'. . . I use an Athlon Argos 8-34x56 FFP on my CZ-VMTR and on my Savage B-22 FV, but the 8 might be too strong if you shoot under 50 while hunting. I have a 6-24x50 on my Marlin-60 but I use it for bench shooting and it's OK for 25-yds - but might be diff for searching/moving targets.
