Hi guys, i recently picked up a mossberg model 43B in 22lr that i will be throwing a scope on, and I'm interested in hearing what you guys like for optics on your rimfires. Budget for a scope is max 200, something decent will do, it doesn't have to be top of the line.

Vortex makes the diamondback in rimfire, for around that price. Look through it, and if you like it then its the best glass for the money IMO. Only thing I don't like about it is the critical eye relief and a bit of warp in the image. Otherwise it has excellent low light performance and so far I have read good things about its tracking. Equivalent glass would be the Burris E1 series, a bit more expensive but you get the E1 reticle. The Burris FFII is the non-etched reticle and is just as good.

Do you want a red dot, magnification, how far will you be shooting, what will you be shootin?
All questions that need answers before we can give you good advise.

For me, Sightron SI is the one i like very much. A used Weaver classic rimfire could also fit the bill.
SI 4-12x40 ao hhr was a revelation for me :). It's on my Z-5 in wmr.

I bought a Bolt-Action, Savage Mark II, Thumbhole Stock, SS Bull Barrel for Christmas, from P&D Edmonton, AB.
After looking at several Scopes, I chose a Nikon P-22 RifleScope. 2-7X32Matte Nikoplex. $181.00.
This scope was highly recommended by the .22LR Staff because it is Ballistically Matched for .22LR.
The Recticle and adjustment system is calibrated specifically to the bullet trajectory of the .22LR Rimfire Cartridge.
The Turret is finely graduated up to 150 yards, which is probably the maximum I ever shoot gophers at.
I can't wait until Spring brings the gophers out. :)

Majority of the shooting will be 50-100 though I may use it for grouse as well. Definitely not interested in a red dot, like to play with the gongs at 200 as well for ####s and giggles. But 50-100 is what matters the most for what I'll be shooting. Also have a fixed 4x scope chief laying around. Is 4x too much for 50 yds? Also will the parallax be a major issue or is it livable using a center fire scope set for 100yd parallax?

I have several .22 rifles that get used as loaners to family and friends when we go gopher shooting. Unfortunately they can't all wear $500 scopes.

I've had good luck with the Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire scope. Reasonable glass, tracks OK, holds zero and a bargain $55 at WSS. I have three of them in use now. For shooting gophers and plinking at 22 rimfire distances they work just fine. The Bushnell isn't quite as nice as a Loopy but it's very usable. I am usually a bit of a scope snob and the fact I can tolerate the Bushnell surprised me more than anyone.

Sightron scopes! Best value out of many scopes!
Choose your poison for power and the best part, the scope would be swapable to centerfires unlike all the rimfire scopes suggested.
Please take into account the scopes weight!
A bull barrel, bipod, scope can make a 7lb gun into a 12+lb gun fast!
I would know, have a savage btvs, S3 10-50x and bipod = 13.25lbs.
