Rimfire scope to 100yds

my mk2 has a tasco target/varmint 2.5-10x42 on it and i LOVE it!!! its awesome, more zoom range than the classic 3-9 everyone has and has easy to adjust turrets, and a its adjustable objective too... for 100 bucks you cant go wrong... but i think if i was gonna go for a bit longer range i would look for a 4-16 one... im planning on getting a mk2 TR and im gonna put on a 4-16 to see a bit further...

For gophers mine have 1.5-6, for target and some accuracy 2.5-16, and for. Only target fixed 36 power. Every scope is a compromise find the one that works best for 90 % of what you will be using it for.

I have a Savage MkII TR .22 that currently sports a 1-4x Bushnell scope. This is great at 25yds and ok at 50yds but I want to use the rifle at 100yds and I know this scope will just not cut it.

Any suggestions on glass that will do the job without getting silly on price (it is a rimfire after all)

Thx.

I put a Bushnell Trophy 6-18 w/ adjustable parallax on my rimfire, it does the job nicely and was only $339 new from WSS.

It really depends on what kind of 100 yd shooting you plan to do. If you're shooting paper targets (as in a bench rest match) you need to see the bullet holes. To do that you'll need at least a 24x scope with adequate resolution. If you have really good eyesight you might be able to get away with a Tasco. But most people will require better optics. Good quality Bushnell, Weaver and other brands will run about $500-600, less if you can find one on the EE.

If you're shooting reactive targets, milk jugs, varmints or whatever you won't need such fine resolution and can probably use a cheaper scope and/or less magnification.

Remember, a good quality scope is a pleasure to use, can always be used on another rifle and retains much of its value when resold.

Here is what I have on mine, I bought it for $110 at Cabelas, one sales guy didn't want to sell it to me because it said it was good for a .17hmr, but I've been impressed with it on my .22 rimfire.
