Rimfire scopes on centerfire

Okay this is a silly question but, for what reason is it not recommended to put rimfire scope on a centerfire rifle. Reason for asking is that i have a rimfire scope i would like to put on my Enfield. I switched my bushnell 3-9x to my stevens 200 rifle. And i find it impossible to use the fixed sights on my enfield. Thought id ask before i wreck something.

I'm not certain, but I think the rimfire scopes are not strong enough to continually withstand the recoil forces generated by the more powerful centerfire ammo.

Also I believe that RimFire scopes have a shorter Parallx range then centerfire scopes.

I put a rimfire scope on my Enfield and what a PITA it is.. I've tried everything and even then, after 4 shots the scope breaks loose. Save yourself the trouble and don't bother.

Ok thanks for the heads up. Gonna check out a cheap scope for my enfield.
