I was just trying out my new build today ''first RimX'' found bolt was exceedingly tight to close on Lapua and Sk ammo, did somewhat loosen near end after 150 rounds. Any thoughts on this, I know precision actions can be stiff until breakin, functions ok with snap caps. Also where can I get a manual on the RimX action, did not see anything on the Zermatt site

Go look at the bolt galling vid on here on you tube. As skwerl ? about his issues

As mentioned above. Bolt galling. Check serial number if its 3000+ check your bolt lugs for premature wear

And use the no go gauge supplied w the action to check headspace

Yes the chambering is tight , on all ammo which I have used. Eley & SK
The rifling prints on 60% of the bullet that is what makes them phan phukn tastic shooters
It doesn't lighten up .

The bolt should not close "tight" on SK/Lapua if the barrel tenon has been machined to correct specs.
I have a Benchmark & Kreiger done by different smiths in the US & both tenons measure the same.
With the extractor/tensioner removed, the bolt closes comfortably on a Forster 046 gauge but won't close on a 049 gauge.

Sounds like the barrel was chambered with a reamer that engraves the bullet more than you were expecting.

I wouldn't be happy if my RimX bolt was difficult to close every round.

One of the best advantages of the RimX is how smooth and light the bolt closes and opens.

this sounds like your headspace is off.

try eley, the rim thickness is less then SK. if eley closes fine, then its headspace.

Not my issue , the chamber on my barrel is
quite short and prints deeply on the bullet.

A great thing for accuracy , no prob. I just
thought I would try to lighten it.

I am selling & let another enjoy this rifle , most accurate
I havee ever owned 10 rounds in a Bug Hole at 50 mtrs.

I've seen that Gaulling on the newer RIMX , seem
they changed materials for bolt manufacture.

Desert Precision has a video out showing the same .
