I was looking at my 14inch HP9 yesterday and was thinking about a tube mag extension. I pulled the mag apart, took out the guts, and I see that a mag extension wouldn't do any good, as there are two "crimps" near the end of the tube which would prevent a shotgun shell from passing it anyway. So, is there any way to get more than 4 shells in the tube of an HP9?

I think I saw a post about removing the dimples. I know there are easier ways, but I've seen a dremel used to ground them off. Hope that is a start.

The detents must be removed.

This is easily done. You can either drill them out, file them away, swage or pein them out, or ream them. I suggest reaming.

Once these detents are removed you then might want to take a precaution to avoid magazine cap/extension loosening, in the form of either a magazine band or Locktite. I like the Clark (# 181-380-001 at Brownells).

Dremel, 5 minutes, done.

But it may lower the collector value of your Norinco! :p

Oh really?? Hmmm, I was hoping to sell it mint in my collection when I'm 90.. Maybe I'll think twice about it... LOL

NOT.....

It's a "truck gun" and all round ranch tamer, not worried to much about its collector status.. LOL :D

Thanks guys!

I use mine as a "truck gun" too.

Yep, I just took the dremel to the thing and out came the dimples easy as pie. I now have a 7 shot 'rinco! (one in the spout) Don't like that the extension is longer than the barrel a bit, but, oh well.. :D

Of all the guns I own, I have to say this cheap pile of metal is one of my fav's. Versatile, cheap, easy to run and clean and a lot of fun to play with.

I wondered if that strap was home brewed. I like it. Think I'll be fabbing one up this weekend.

You think this will really decrease its value?? ;) :runaway:

Is this a Hunting and Sporting Shotgun post? Or do you just want to ask the experts?

sorry to highjack the thread but I have a question for you HP9 guru's, I have the 18 inch barrel on my hp9, mine came with the magazine extention :) but when I tried to put on a ribbed rifled deer barrel on it, because of the extention now there is about 2 inches of space between the barrel screw and the barrel ring, hope you guys know what i mean..... Anyhow my question is, is there a spacer I can put on there to fix this? As it stands the barrel is free to move back and forth, can't see that being too safe...
