Ill be buying a nightforce shv 56mm scope this month and ive been looking at rings from various companies. Been looking at nightforce atrs and mdt rings. I havent used any of them before and was interested in any opinions.
Ive always used weaver or millet rings so ive got lots of them but theyre not 30mm rings. Are the listed brands really that much better than weaver rings?
Gun is a rem 783 hb in 223 for now. Will likely become a 20tac when it needs a new barrel. It sits in a mdt lss chassis with an egro grip. Weight isnt an issue as its pretty heavy already

I've been researching rings and rails for a while. Everybody I've spoken with whose opinion I respect said to spend as much on rings and rail as possible. I've settled on ATRS. If your budget is unlimited, New Manufacturing makes what appears to be one heckuva rail.

I run MDT rings, and I have a one-piece scope mount from MDT as well, just haven't put it on yet since my load is full proved out. As long as everything goes well this weekend, I will be switching to that.

I've got Nightforce rings on both my Nightforce-wearing rifles but I would buy ATRS in a heartbeat (especially since one of the rifles has an ATRS rail on it and was built by ATRS).

This scope is for a gun i already have but im always buying. I want the scope first so i can measure up the ring height and get the scope as low as possible. Wish it was a 50mm not a 56mm

Getting the scope as low as possible doesn't do anything. That's just a trend from military snipers trying to keep a low profile and primitive ballistic calculators. Ergonomic considerations should be the prime factor in deciding on ring height, you just need to measure the height over bore accurately for your app.

I want it low as possible for better cheek weld. If i have to start adding to the comb height it throws off the balance when switching from prone to kneeling to standing
