I have a Tikka T3x and am hoping to use the Tikka optilock ringmounts for mounting a scope with a 42mm objective. I am wondering if anyone has has experience with these ring mounts or knows if it will fit properly?

Thanks!

For ring heights, some are advertised as height to bore center, and some are advertised as height to the bottom of the scope from the receiver.

Talley light weight extra low are .410" under the scope plus 0.5" (half the diameter of the scope) is .910" to the centerline. This will easily clear a 44mm leupold (vx5/6)

in comparison, the rings you reference are 1.062" (27mm) to the bore center line, or .562" under the scope. All manufacturers vary in the outside diameter of the scope, regardless of the advertised lens objective diameter. I'm not sure what brand scope you have, but you should be able to look it up. If I had to guess you are going to end up with 1/4"-5/16" (about .300") under the scope. On my tikkas I prefer them lower than this.

If you have the gun and scope it is very easy to mock up. Since tikka has a flat top receiver, you can stack coins (penny nickels dimes) and some combination will come very close to .562. Frog tape 2 stacks together, then frog tape 2 stacks on top of the receiver. Set the scope on top of them, find your eye relief through high and low end magnification, and frog tape the scope onto the stacks at that location. That's what the rings will look like.
