I notice alot of guys are running medium height rings when mounting optics with 40mm bells so that the rear of the scope clears the rear sight of the M305/M1A rifle. Has anyone had any success using Burris or Leupold Low rings or is it Medium-plus for ring height ?

Sweet. Off to pull some rear sights :D

By chance, what kind of scopes are you guys running ? Do you find that certain scopes will work while others don't (due to the size of the eyepiece)?

Also, when mounting with low rings, is there enough space on the front bell for BC flip covers or is the bell too close to the handguard ?

I am partial with Zeiss - Conquest 6.5x20x50 with a Smith Ent 2006 Mount with TPS Med Steel Rings and Butler Creek covers. I did pull off the rear sight, no need to worry about clearance and operating the rear flip eye piece cover.

I am planning on mounting a Falcon scope; I hope this is not too much of a hijack, but I think we have the answer for 40mm... what about with a 56mm objective on an ARMS18 mount? What size of rings would you use then (with or without removing the rear sight)?
