Planning on ordering the M14.CA CASM gen 2 mount and a bushnell 10x40. Will low rings do the trick or will I need something taller? Probably going with warne qd or fixed.

Also, with the CASM and low rings will I need a cheek rest, or will this combination be low enough to not need one?

Thanks

In situations like these, I grab my ruler and measure. Most ring manufacturers list key dimensions for their rings. Don't be afraid to draw a picture or sketch to help yourself figure it out. Sorry I couldn't be any more helpful.

I've got Burris Zee Standard low rings with the Bushnell 10x40 on a CASM mount. It works great for me but the ends of the scope fall below the mount, low enough to completely block the backup sight hole, and if you need to move it further forward or back for eye relief you might not have room. A cheek rest will be necessary even with low rings, unless you're comfortable with a chin weld.

Just mounted a 42mm scope with Weaver med rings on the Casm and it just cleared the mount. Can't use the peep sight on the Casm as scope blocks the sight picture. Mounting Tacpro cheek riser as we speak.

Hmmm, sounds like I may have to order the mount and scope first and then measure to see what will fit. Too bad as I was hoping to order them all at the same time so I can get em on the rifle sooner.

With the CASM, the lowest rings possible will fit, those are low rings and they clear perfectly, and dont forget the cheekrest, you will need something there even with very low rings... JP.

depends on scope diameter. One inch tubes can usually get away with low rings. A 30MM tube usually requires high rings.

Even with 34mm rings, with the CASM rail ( it's short) you will get away with low rings, these are the Badger Ordonance low rings... JP.
