ring height question

Gun- Remington 700 LA with standard barrel , no sights
scope - vortex viper 6.5-20x50 (30mm tube) with butler creek flip up covers

what are the lowest talley lite rings I can use???
please let me know if you have any experience with this setup,
my local cabelas has the 30mm talley in medium (no highs in stock) but I want to be fairly certain they will work before I buy

Drop Talley an email - they can tell you most of the time.

From Talleys FAQ page. I have never used Talley rings but I would guess medium is as low as you can go with a 50mm objective.


9. Ring Height Selection Guide: This guide is a good rule of thumb guide but we will NOT guarantee that it will work for every rifle/scope combination.

Low Ring Height for scopes up to 44 mm objective with standard barrel contour.

Medium Ring Height for scopes up to 50 mm objective with standard barrel contour.

High Ring Height for scopes with a 56 mm objective with standard barrel contour.

Extra-High Ring Height for large objective scopes with heavy contour barrels and single shot rifles.

I have a bushnell elite 3-9x40 with butler creeks in low talleys on my 700 Bdl and I say that's the lowest that will work with my set up.if your scope is any bigger at objective and if 30mm are same height as 1" version, lows will not work.

I emailed talley and they quickly replied that the mediums are the lowest option with my setup
