Rings\Bases options for Sako?

There are Talleys, leupold etc. Some really like the Talleys but they mark up the top of your receiver when tightened up. Personally I like the Optiloks, they worked great and if you can find a set of the 1 piece Optiloks thats even better. If you want a more tactical look, NEAR does up a MOA style mount for it but you need to have it tapped to screw it on.

Millets are crap, optiloks are good but bulky.

I use a Zeiss conquest scope on mine and am a bit of a stock crawler and I can't get the scope far enough forward with optiloks, the eye piece bumps the base.

I have tried all of them and like the Burris system the best, the rear base is sloped and allows me to get the scope about 1/4 farther forward.

As mentioned the Leupold ringmounts are very good. Weaver makes bases that fit the Sako dovetails. If you use these then your choices for other rings expands greatly.

DNZ Products make some slick one-piece mounts that are integral rings and bases, but I'm haven't found a Canadian dealer that carries them yet. I'm aksing around though. I have a Tikka 695 and am currently using Weaver bases with Burris Signature low rings. i haven't had trouble with them but would like something cleaner, lower and light.

Burris makes a dual dovetail base that fits over the receiver dovetail on the 75/85, then it's just a matter of twisting in your favourite DD rings.

The Leupolds look good, work well, and best of all they have excellent eye relief...significantly more than Sako rings can provide.

If we are talking current production there are only two choices in my mind. Leupold or the 1-piece sako ringmounts. I never could understand why guys add bases to a rifle with integral bases - it defeats the whole purpose. Why the ringmounts arent readily available is beyond me aswell. Stoeger has told me they have them instock, but its up to the distributors to order them in and sell them.

If Stoeger has them in stock, its just a matter of getting your local shop to order them for you.
