Rings: Diffference b/w cheap & not so cheap?

Like the title states. What is the differnece b/w a 25 and a 50 dollar pair of rings? Do they hold the scope better with less chance of it shifting?

There is a significant difference in brands of rings - higher quality rings will have the screw holes drilled and tapped straight, better quality materials, and have the actual scope hole cut straight. That being said 50 dollar rings really aren't that expensive -- Most higher end rings are in the 100-200 dollar range.

I had some cheap tasco rings that worked just fine but easy to strip the screws that come with.
BUT my last set of Tascos I actually had to file the dove tail considerably to get my scope to mount straight. I am assuming it was not a crooked scope or bad grooving on my Marlin 17HMR but anything is possible.

Like Glock said $50 rings are still cheap.. Check out Near Mfg for pretty much the top of the line rings.
