Rings don't fit my Sako

I prefer the Sako Optilocks myself. I have them on all my Sako and Tikka T3 rifles. You bought a Sako, why not use what was specifically designed for it. What's a few more $$. I have abuddybthat hasMillets on his Sako and they have worked, but I do not like them. Talleys would get my next vote

Though made by Sako, standard two piece Optilocks seem needlessly complicated to me too. I did as Ted suggested and am happy with my straight forward and well made old style Sako mounts on my pre-Garcia 338W Sako.

However I also really like the look of Sako's own currently made "ringmounts" as suggested by jjohnwms above - for the exact same reasons I like the old style ones - simple and strong, made by Sako. To confuse things they are also called Optilocks but they are different from the commonly sold two part bases and rings ones. I hope to try them some day. They are a lower (probably lowest from Sako -???) ring also and a little hard to source, spendy, and look like this;

Optilock rings are over-engineered and over-priced. They cannot mount a scope in the lowest position, AND come with ridiculously soft screws? Even Millets are better, and that is saying something! :D

Find a set of original SAKO rings. They will cost you less money, are windage adjustable, and far superior quality.

Good to know! I've never had any problems with Optilocks, once mounted correctly. Where do you find the Sako rings? Looked for them for about a week, then gave up!

The old style rings Ted refers to are no longer made. So a good used set must be sourced of the right height (low medium high options I think). A WTB on EE may be good for that - or the usual gun shows and shops etc. I got mine at a local gun shop.

As to the newer "Ringmounts" (only available in low), Grouse River Outfitters in Kelowna lists both blued (179.99) and stainless (199.99) now on their website;
