I tried a set of Warne QD high rings (height .55" +/-) but the bolt handle won't clear under even the smallest scope ocular bell. Any good ideas for higher rings that fit the standard CZ 19mm dovetail - pref QD? Thanks...Y

I always used Brno/CZ rings, and they worked well. Try NECG, I am sure they have a good setup for your rifle.

Thanks for the tips. I would be happy with CZ rings but I couldn't find a source by stumbling around the internet. CZ doesn't show up on the NECG website as far as I can make out. Maybe I'll call on Monday. In the meantime I would like to know if there are any other sources for CZ/Brno rings. Thanks...Y

I purchased mine at P&D Enterprises in Edmonton. They usually have them in stock. The rings I am refering to are actualy CZ see through rings. These bring the scope up high enough to work the bolt.

Try LYNX brand, I have in the past and they work great. They're made in Australia but I don't know who distributes them here.

P&D carry the Lynx. The screw clamp design is weak IMO but they held zero on a really bad fall I took on the scree so I guess they are not bad. They are a fairly clean design and not as tactical looking as the CZ. Our member ################ carries the CZ rings and replacement Allen head screw when you strip the originals.

Have a look at the Conetrol scope mounting system, I have a set on my Weatherby Varminter and like the smooth clean look, looks a lot like the factory system used by Brno. I Emailed Conetrol yesterday and it seems that depending on calibre??? their CZ dovetail (are these guns made in different widths by calibre vs action size? - I would suspect this is so) bases might work on the 21H. Any way have a look, when I get to that stage of my project I will use Conetrol if at all possible. Any comments pro / con on this system would be appreciated. --- John303.

ALL 21H and F (with dovetails) = 19mm
ALL ZG-47 = 19 mm
ALL 600, 601 and 602 = 19 mm
ALL 550 = 19 mm

465, 527, Fox, Fox II = 16 mm

the .22 = 11mm

It is a very elegant and timeless system that I love. I have one piece mounts from the late 40's that mount to my present day 550 and vice versa.

Conetrol makes very solid mounts that are fussy to mount to the scope and to get the scope upright (the seamless rings need to be man handled into positin and the scope tends to twist) - but when set, are very solid. I tend to prefer the ones that have 4 screws per ring. Some do not like the 4 screws as they find it difficult to get even pressure across the four screws.

I prefer the BRNO/CZ rings as they are built for the system.

Leupold are fine as well.

Lynx has both two piece rings and a one piece base with "turrets" that allows you to change ring diameters easily from 26 mm to 24.5mm to 30 mm (the one piece Lynx have windage adjustment that may get you out of a jam but may be hard to source. Of course they are made in Austrlia but they will not ship (to me anyways))

The BRNO/CZ rings are overbuilt (as always) but when set - well, mine do not move.

As for height -- yes you may end up with a slightly higher "cheek or jaw weld" than you are used to but in the end for many of my rifles I end to prefer the higher head stance for effective hunting purposes. Of course the sniping, close, low weld is desirable for long range precision shooting but i find you get used to it.

Thanks again for the useful input. I checked with P&D and they have the CZ high and measured them for me - .67" compared to their Leupold high at about .57" Also going to email me a photo as they don't have any illustrated information. Talk about friendly service!! Not too concerned about height as I make hunting stocks for my rifles that come with nice wood so I can get the comb just right and can bang them around in the bush without wincing. Here's my 527 carbine.

BTW -- I forgot about Warne -- their mounts are also very very solid and come in a variety of heights and dovetails. A bit clunky looking , but if you lap them - they hold very well. They also come in quick detachable which are very nice. I have used them up to 416 Rigby and 30-378 on a BRNO 602 with great results.

They are available from that Ednmonton gun parts supply house whose name escapes me.
If you need heights - the Brownells catelogue has a good height chart for many of the rings (alas not the BRNO) including the Warnes.
