Does anyone know what rings will fit factory Parker Hale bases?

I have a rifle that had weaver bases screwed to the factory bases but another one that has come up that has the factory bases with good express sights and I would love detachable rings if at all possible.

Thanks

Have to know what bases you have

So far as I know, only Parker Hale Rings fit Parker Hale bases. They are coded - helps to follow the code.
For example, RALS.3 means R= Roll Off (detachable); A means wide base (about 19.5 mm wide at the top flanges); L means Low height (as opposed to N=Normal and H=High); S means it has a recoil stud - most, but not all Parker Hale bases have a tapered hole that may or may not match to a screw - the stud on the ring goes into that tapered hole - usually want rear ring to have a stud; .3 means it is for 1" diameter scope - .4 is for 26mm scope. So, for a Lee Enfield No. 4 you would use an A20 base on the front (no stud hole) and an A20 on the rear (has a stud hole). For a 1" scope mounted high, you would need an RAH.3 on the front (no stud) and an RAHS.3 on the rear. The studs are removable so you can knock out the stud on one if you have a pair of RAHS.3 rings, to use. For a Mauser 98 (parker Hale rifle, etc.) you would use an A22 on the front and an A28 on the back as bases, and either Low, Normal or High rings to suit your bolt and scope.

They look similar to weaver bases but are from the factory, they are soldered or welded to the receiver and they do not have a cross slot like weaver bases.

This is a Parker Hale Safari with the safety no the back and a hinged floor plate.

Ha! I just checked and will have to contradict what I just wrote above. Here is a picture of 4 Parker Hale Rings, all clearly marked "RAHS.3" You can see that the first and last ones do not have, and never did have the recoil studs. The left two are a "matte" finish, and "newer", I believe; the right two are gloss with yellow text and are "older", I think.

I will look tonight and see what the rings I have say.

Is there any modern company that makes rings that will fit this type of base or does Parker Hale still make/sell rings?

The other parker hale rifle I have the guy put weaver bases on it, so I just put offset low rings on it and that works well but since this gun is mint and beautiful so trying to keep things original if possible.

I doubt Parker Hale has made any rings since the mid-1970's, or perhaps even earlier. The ones I have came from eBay (in Britain) or from CGN. So far, I have not found any "modern" currently made rings that will work properly on Parker Hale bases - would enjoy hearing if anyone has found some that do?

That is what I thought, may be tough finding something other than the really high ones that came on it, I hate having my head up off the stock, on top of that they are not QD rings so the express sights are useless then.

I did a bit more digging, it may be possible that Tikka or CZ dovetails are the same as parker hale, I will measure things this weekend if I get a chance and get back to you.

Rings and an action bedding, then this 30-06 should be good to go :)

Do you have a brno?

Another bit of information found this evening regarding Parker Hale scope ring height designations: L= .22". N= .33" and H= .44" height under the scope tube. (I would assume top of scope mount base to bottom of scope body) This was taken from the 1957 Edition of the Parker Hale catalogue. Very close to the measurements I get on the RAHS.3 pictured above. When selecting ring height, remember you have to consider both objective diameter clearance to barrel at the front as well as clearance for your bolt handle at the other end.

Worse, it is the Safari Deluxe, it has the wing safety on the back so I would have to clear that as well, or change out the safety, it is a Mauser 98 action.

Or, there is the "old school" way. With the scope mounted, you carry the rifle with the safety off, and the chamber empty. If you think a shot is a possibility, you rack a cartridge into the chamber but do not close the bolt handle. You have a controlled feed rifle - the cartridge and the bolt are connected. When ready to shoot, close the bolt. Lift the bolt handle if you change your mind. When the scope is removed to use the express sights, (likely close cover, tracking something wounded), then you can fully chamber and close the bolt and use the safety.

I like the idea but "think a shot is possible" is not really something that you ever do not have in this neck of the woods, we walk in with the lead guy loaded and ready to go, Eastern Ontario woods are tight.

I may be really lucky, asked a friend if he knew where I may be able to ask, he came back saying he had a set of Parker Hale roll off rings in the original package, never used, so if the height is right I may just have the rings already.

No, 2 Parker Hale rifles, one has weaver bases screwed to the factory bases and one just has the factory bases.

The existing rings are Sports Match rings.

My apologies for reviving this apparently dead thread, but I just came across a video on Youtube by CGN member Tudenom, where he says that the UK company "Sportmatch.com" does indeed make modern rings that fit on Parker Hale bases, complete with recoil studs. I just received a Parker Hale Safari Deluxe that came with Parker Hale RALS.3 rings, the 1.4" eyepiece on a Weaver K3-1 clears the bolt handle nicely, but a Leupold M8-6x (1.6" diameter eyepiece) needs higher rings. Looks like I need something. Thanks to Tudenom for the information that an alternative is available.

I have a set of those, they do match the dovetail but they do not have the same type of recoil lug as the originals.

I also noted that they are not high enough to be able to clear the swing of the wing safety on the back of the rifle, this one does not have the side safety.
