RiP STUART W SEKI

June is Men's Mental Health month and I haven't seen much, if anything in the media talking about it or promoting it , meanwhile outstanding men are fighting silent battles that prove to be unwinnable.

Sad news indeed.

Agreed, you will hear more about the rainbow people than this topic any time of the year..

Stuart was the first person I met when i enlisted in the reserves back in 08. He was the escorting member bringing me up to the company lines at Denison. He was also my coworker, friend and mentor. He taught me everything I know about handgun discipline, PRS, and action shooting (introduced me to IDPA, got me into my black badge course, and showed me the ropes of signing up and attending IPSC matches).

At work, he and I always went shooting together. We had spent countless hours discussing the finer points of marksmanship, ballistics, philosophy, ideologies, religion, human behavior, rc cars, classical music, psychology, modes of governance, state of western culture, history, meaning & purpose, and all natures of hypotheticals. I was called by the crisis negotiator moments before his passing on Saturday morning. I wish I could have said more... I wish i could have delayed him just a couple more minutes or even seconds...

Despite everything that has transpired, I remember him fondly. For someone who was not religious, he truly displayed Christ-like behavior towards the least of us. He showed compassion and care to those who needed help and never jumped to a conclusion. He was a calm, reasonable and methodical man of the utmost caliber. Although he had many quirks, "isms", and a high degree of eccentricity, he was nonetheless an astute model of tzadik.

I will pray for you every night. I have coordinated a Holy Mass offered for you on 9 July 2023 0900h at Guardian Angels Parish (115 West St N, Orillia, ON, L3V 5C4). Anyone is welcome to attend. Funeral details at this time have not been finalized.

God be with you.
Rest in Peace, my good friend.

Yeah, I was going to add, I joined in 07, and for the next 16 years, he was a constant. He always had something to teach or pass on to the troops, there was never a dumb question, and I had never seem him yell, you just felt bad about it and fixed it when working under him. He treated the troops and everyone around him with respect. I don't know of a single troop, who wouldn't have hopped to a task the second he asked, not because of rank, but because of respect for him.

He spent a lot of time he didn't have to, to put me back on the right path after some not so good choices, when he didn't have to.

Without a doubt, the best SNCO I've ever met, and a massive loss to our unit. Experience and skill alone will take half a century or more to get back, but men like Seki are irreplaceable.

I just hope he's at peace now.
