RL19 in 30-06

Haven't used it with 165s, but have had great success with RL 19 and Hornady 150s in a Stevens I've been loading for a buddy.
Here's a pic of the better group.
62 grains seemed to be max with an average velocity of 2930. From 59 to 62 grains, velocity was between 2800 to that max of 2930, and every group went less than an inch.

I played around with the RL19 / 165 gr combo in one of my '06s. I found it to be in line with the various 4350s in overall performance.
In my rifle I found the powder to "peak" in pressure with little warning. The velocity/pressure curve would go along smoothly and then all of a sudden brass would be flowing into the extractor slot. I also found the powder in the '06 to be very temperature sensitive with loads developed during the summer at 20c loosing ~150 fps when shot at -10c.

My experience with RL 19/165's in the 30-06 leads me to believe it acts slower than the various 4350's. For example, I was at the point of marking case heads (one lot of ww cases) with 60 gr of IMR 4350 and 61 gr of H4350, but it took 63 grains of Reloder 19 to do the same. Velocities were a bit faster on this test with RL19, but not enough to make a significant difference. If you can get your hands on some, Tod, you should try Vihtavuori N160. It really shines in my 06's with the 165. I am at around 61 grains. As usual don't use any of these loads without working up from below. Regards, Eagleye

I have been toying with the idea of getting a .30-06
I figured I would settle for 1 of 3 powders. Either RL19 RL22 or IMR 4350.
180 grains was the bullet weight of choice. Accuracy would be important, but speed would be the deciding factor.
Any thoughts?
I found the comment about RL 19 being temperature sensitive interesting.

well I fired one group this evening, 165 grain Accubonds over 60.0 grains RL19 (WLR Primer - Lapua case). Did 1.49" 3 shot 100m, but two of the shots were within .3"
chrony readings didnt work due to darkness - I got soem more loads to try on Tuesday, looks promising so far!

I worked up to the same max as the Nosler 5th Edition reloading manual for RL22 for my Rem. 700 30-06. I chrony'd these at just over 2800 fps out of a 22" barrel using 180 Nosler Partitions. I don't think that it's possible to get a 30-06 to safely shoot faster than that.
well I worked up to 62 grains of RL19 with the 165 grain Accubond and managed a 4 shot group of .71" @ 113 yards with that combo 
average velocity was 2835 fps
a bit more testing to come but I think I may of found my hunting load this year for that rifle
