I was (and still am) looking for the folder version, but I guess one can't be picky when it comes to unicorns.
RMB-93 is a "reverse pump" (technically, it is RMO-93, with RMB being the designation for the LE version and RMO for civilians).
The designer was Gryazev — he used the same top-feeding, lower-barrel-firing scheme as in his GShG-7.62 helicopter MG.
  • The top tube is not a barrel; it's a magazine.
  • The bottom tube is the barrel, which you rack back and forth (or rather, forth and back, unlike a normal pump).
  • You don't feed the shell into the chamber; you pull the barrel onto the fixed shell.
  • You don't #### it by racking. It's a striker-fired shotgun, and every time you pull the trigger, it cocks the striker. So, in case of a misfire, you can simply pull the trigger once more.
  • It's a top loader with MG-like cover on a swivel protecting loading gate.
  • It's a bottom ejector.
  • It doesn't have a bolt.
  • It locks on trigger pull. If you want to eject the chambered shell, you just rack it again. It has a kind of "half-lock," so there's no need to release the bolt lock.
  • Stock has quick detach feature.
  • And some other crazy features...

Loading it takes a little to get used to
- As in: You push the round in, then lift it up so the rim catch on the tube opening

I guess you could call it a control-feed shotgun

They were offered in short/long barrel variant
- The shorter barrel w/folding stock, couldn't fire unless the stock was in the open-locked position.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a scaled down version of their GM-94 Grenade Launcher (also manufactured by KBP design bureau )

In regards of loading - it is also important to leave last loaded shell outside of the magazine tube, supported by spring pressure from previously loaded shells or by follower pressure in the case of single shell loading. I saw some videos where ppl were racking the shotgun TWICE to feed first shell because they left last loaded shell retained by rim catch. It's incorrect, they should have just left one shell outside the tube. Overall loading is finicky, need to do it at right angle and shells are not positively retained by the rim catch, no wonder no LE / special forces adopted this shotgun. BTW first versions of the shotgun did not have that rim catch, so loading was even more PIA.

It's actually GM-94 that is scaled up version of RMB-93. RMB happened a year before.

I wanted one badly at one point, but the tedious loading sequence scared me off.
