I'm in the market for an RMR for my Glock. I'm struggling with the decision of which dot size to go with. I've done some reading on the topic and opinions are split down the middle.

What do you guys think? Looking for opinions from people who actually have RMR's and had to make the same decision.

I won't be shooting further than 25m

A 6.5 size dot will be much easier to pickup if you plan on shooting outdoors when it is bright and sunny out. The smaller size will wash out. The whole idea of a dot is to get it on the target quickly. I run a C-More with a 6 MOA dot on an open division pistol. Once you learn the dot, it's pretty much paint the spot and press the trigger.

Long distance lower Moa, short distance larger Moa. The reason it's split down the middle is it's personal preference. Low light, indoor, and accuracy smaller Moa. Outdoor, bright light and getting rounds on torso with speed 6 Moa.

At the end of the day try out both if possible or atleast go into a store that had them and start low ready with it, raise it up and see which one your eye grabs better.

I always go with the smaller dot, simply because if I want a larger dot that's more easily picked up.......I turn the brightness up.
I can't understand why someone would say a small dot would wash out in bright light, unless you're running a cheap optic.
The sun is also not a reasonable target.

The whole idea of putting a reflex dot on a pistol was for faster target acquisition, not for pin point accuracy. Hence the reason you see them on Open division pistols. It depends on what you want to do with it. If your looking at shooting competition, I think a 6 moa size is best for speed. If you just want to punch paper then maybe a 3 will work for you. Best to have a look at both as a good quality reflex sight will not be cheap as the slide mounted ones do take a beating from the slide traveling back and forth. Most of the ones on Open guns are mounted to the frame.

Originally the thought was speed and a bit bigger dots. Now dots are being used in many accuracy based games and can be argued that they are a just as much of a massive advantage in those games as in the action games now!

As has been said, accuracy at distance, smaller 3.25, just action at closer range maybe bigger 6 moa. The good quality ones are adjustable to prevent washout.

I got the 3.25. I'm glad I didn't go with the bigger one. This one is more than enough.

For those wondering. It's about the same size as the dot on a started Trijicon sight.

This. The guys I shoot with in IPSC all run 6.5 or there about.
3 is almost impossible to see outdoors in the sunshine running a course of fire.

It depends what you are trying to do. If you are shooting for precision the smaller dot is better. If you are shooting for speed the bigger dot is better as you can find it more easily. I have a red Dot site which is on the smaller side. With adjustable brightness you can get the benefits of both worlds. Low intensity for precision and high intensity for quick target acquisition. My recommendation smaller dot with adjustable dot intensity.
